A leaden weight upon my deck
Is dragging to the ground
A cursed serpent on my neck
Is tugging round and round
Can’t breathe no more
So stuffed with lies
Our cathedral gates , are open!
Thou shalt hear hags’ delirious cries,
Whores’ lips, all candlelit with candor,
Thugs’ tongues will weep the songs of lies
The pope will clench his cross in splendor
Proclaiming fraternity with God!
This is Cathedral Of Pain
Kneel down and ask of thee forgiveness
Then ladle mouthfuls from the source
Of rotten flesh and prayers’ falsehood
Feed on the ego with remorse!
Thou shalt hear cacophonies of prayers,
Entrancing odours of incense,
Slaves hear him not while hoofs are rattling
The devil’s raising up his sword!
The lungs inhale the loathful air
Consuming sufferings and blights
A fiendish dance, a whirlwind of despair,
I spin, a devil in delight!
There is a bridge beyond the gates of heaven
Leading a slave to nowhere and away…
The Saturn’s mouth, devouring, endeavors
Its endless hunger to be quenched in vain…
Destroying bonds with hoops of sulphur,
Our blackened souls invite the Bane.
O Satan, Saturn! Thou cometh, join us!
Feast upon this Cathedral of Pain!
The towers shine with fires of a Deity
The One I worship following the urge
I’ll raise the banner to the skies’ infinity
Foreshadowing the death of the Demiurge!
A subtle touch of Master’s hand
Will stain mendacious carrion gallows
We revel deadly poison’s scent
And merge as one with our own shadows

The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity.

This album is incredible. A perfect embodiment of those northern winds piercing you to the heart. I'm convinced these riffs could move glaciers. 𝔅𝔩𝔦𝔰𝔰 ॐ 𝔄𝔟𝔶𝔰𝔰
